Which power company supplies you in Gujarat?
How to tell from your bill
The company name is printed at the top of your light bill, next to your consumer number and the sub-division office that serves you. The PM Surya Ghar portal asks for both the company and the consumer number, so copy them exactly from a recent bill.
Don't go by the area name alone. On the edges of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Surat, one street can be on Torrent Power and the next on the state company.

Where Torrent Power or another licensee supplies
Torrent Power holds the licence for most of Ahmedabad city, Gandhinagar city, parts of Surat city, the Dahej SEZ and the Dholera Special Investment Region. Around those areas, the state company for the district supplies.
A few zones have their own licensed supplier: GIFT City (GIFT Power Company), and port and SEZ areas in Kutch. Net metering rules from GERC apply to all of them, but the application goes to that supplier.
Rooftop Solar with Torrent Power: How It Works for Your Connection
What is the same everywhere
GERC, the state electricity regulator, sets the net metering rules for every company in Gujarat: who can connect, the size limits, and how surplus units are settled. What differs is the company's portal, its offices and how quickly each step moves. Each company page below covers those differences.
Questions people ask us
My bill says UGVCL but I live in Ahmedabad. Is that a mistake?
No. Torrent Power supplies most of Ahmedabad city, but suburbs such as Bopal, South Bopal and Shilaj, and the rural talukas, are on UGVCL. Your bill is the final word.
Can I choose which power company supplies my home or factory?
Not in practice. Each company holds a licence for its area, so your address decides your supplier. Solar doesn't change that: your net meter is installed by the company that already supplies you.
Does PM Surya Ghar work the same with every company?
The subsidy and the national portal are the same. You pick your state and power company on pmsuryaghar.gov.in, and that company handles the feasibility check, net meter and inspection for your connection.
